LYSSA:
+20 energy, you don't need any runes of attunement and stuf like that
you hit like 50 more to foes using skils, so versus barragers, nukers and other skilspammers
it's also very long

[skill]Avatar of Melandru[/skill] FTW definitely.
Then, honorable 2nd place goes for [skill]Avatar of Lyssa[/skill]

If I ever run avatar builds I choose between those two.

S: Cat (EDIT: but razors should be free.)

1. Melandru (overpowered, I daresay)
2. Dwayna (Hex resistance is teh secks)
3. Lyssa (enemy acting = good, enemy not acting = also good)
4. Grenth (charming but largely irrelevant)
5. Balthazar (go play a Warrior.)

Apparently, when it comes to Dervs, females rule.

I'm honestly surprised by how many people think melandru is better than Lyssa in PvE! My experience with it was its energy cost meant I was often caught without it on, making it a distant second best.

To those that do, how are you managing to find the 25 energy every 30-60 seconds without having to stop and wait for regen between every fight? What sort of bars are you running that can maintain that sort of energy thorughput while still being able to spam attack skills?

You see there's my problem - I party with Mhenlo . I've only ever H/H'd with my Derv because so perhaps that is what is colouring my view. I'll try subbing in a smiter for my channeler hero tonight an see whether it changes my mind.

uhm, when you switch back to your scythe after casting melandru you will have negative energy. how can you even pretend thats a viable build?

uhm, who cares? Dervs have good damage by simply cspacing, with their AoE scythe, that deals quite good damage. so, who cares that you can't use your attack skills for 10 seconds?

maybe it matters to you with your 6 earth prayers enchantments, but to good players, it clearly doesn't, no.

how can you even pretend you know stuff about dervs?

For PvE I would say lyssa, simply because its about damage. The reason wammos shouldn't use healing hands is the same reason dervishes shouldnt use their elite just to protect themself (albeit a unfair comparison of elites, the usage is the same), for pve you just want to kill things.

For PvP: Melandru... just because.

When the average pve battle lasts 5-15 seconds, yes its a big deal you can't use them for 10. For Melandru to compare to Lyssa, it needs to unload a deep wound through wearying strike at least once every 3ish seconds (the time it takes lyssa to do 100 damage) - its not going to do that autoattacking.

excuse me? 10 seconds without attacks skills is a damn long time. and i dont use 6 earth prayers enchantments, I use lyssa, which out-damages your auto attacks without even trying. and news flash, dead mobs dont apply conditions. Cspacing dosnt deal guite good damage, wild blow deals quite good damage.

While I'm not arguing that melandrus is really ever that useful in pve outside of mass blindbot areas, I have to point out that a zealous scythe with IAS gives you nearly an 8 effective energy regen boost. Also, its not like anyone ever thought of pre-casting a skill that lasts over a minute.

now, i'm just waiting for you to point out where i said that i was comparing lyssa with full energy pool with melandru with no energy.

simply saying there's a way to keep melandru up, kk?

and news flash, there's stuff outside of NM that doesn't die in 3 seconds.
